The county, which was created in 1825, is located in the state of Georgia. It was named for Colonel John Baker, who fought in the American Revolutionary War. The county’s total area is 349 square miles, 2.1% of which is water. The eastern portion of the area is located in a sub-basin of the Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint River Basin. The western portion of the area is located in the Ichawaynochaway Creek sub-basin of the Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint River Basin. A jail is also located within the county’s boundaries.
