Visits occur daily from 8:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 9:50 p.m. However, before scheduling a visit, it is advisable to confirm the inmate’s presence in the jail by conducting a DeKalb County inmate search here.
Jail Visitation Rules
The jail has certain rules they expect visitors to abide by. Some of the facility’s key visitation rules include:
- Each visitor must appear on the inmate’s approved visitation list.
- Inmates may see one visitor per week.
- Visits at the facility are by appointment only and must be scheduled 24 hours in advance.
- The majority of inmates at the facility may visit with friends or family at the jail’s video visitation center or remotely.
- Each inmate is permitted two 30-minute visits per week at the visitation center. Inmates who reside in mental health areas or maximum security are not allowed to have visitors.
- Visitors must present valid identification.
- Appropriate dress is required and no tobacco products, cell phones, or other electronic devices are permitted inside the facility.
- Visitors must supervise children in the visiting area.
- The facility has the authority to terminate a visit if children exhibit behavior that interferes with the maintenance of order or other people’s use of the center.

Additional Jail Information
The facility offers various rehabilitative and educational opportunities to inmates to help prepare them for a successful return to society. For example, the START program is available to inmates with felony drug abuse charges and histories of repeat drug-related offenses. Additional programs include Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous. Georgia Piedmont Technical College partners with the jail to assist with the GED program and to provide adult basic education classes. Also, the jail offers an inmate workforce program that provides training in labor tasks. Further, the jail has a court-ordered work release program. Finally, the facility offers a life skills program for self-esteem and employment readiness. The local sheriff’s office also works with the probation department on an alternative sentencing program for community service.

About the County / DeKalb County Inmate Search
The county is located in the north central part of Georgia and was acquired by the state in 1821 as a result of the Treaty of Indian Springs. It was named after Baron Johann de Kalb, who was an officer in the French Army, who fought for the Continental Army in the American Revolutionary War. The county covers an area of 271 square miles and is home to the South River and various creeks. As of 2020, the county has a population of 764,382 and is the fourth most populated county in Georgia.
